How to make random teams
Add everyone's names. Optionally add a skill level (1–5) or a tag such as a role.
Choose the number of teams or the team size, and add keep-together or keep-apart rules.
Press Generate and watch the names deal into team columns. Copy, print or share the result.
Balanced, not just random
Pure randomness can put all the strongest players on one side. Turn on balance by skill and the generator shuffles fairly, then snakes players into teams so total skill stays even. Tags spread roles or groups evenly across teams, and constraints keep pairs together (siblings, carpools) or apart (rivals, the two loudest kids).
Team names and colours
Each team gets a colour and a fun random name you can reroll or edit. Print the teams for a gym wall, copy them into a chat, or share a link.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if the names don't divide evenly?
Teams differ in size by at most one person. The extra people are spread randomly.
How does skill balancing work?
People are shuffled, sorted by skill and dealt in a snake order (1-2-3-3-2-1…), then small swaps even out the totals. Who ends up together is still random.
Can I keep two people together?
Yes. Add a keep-together or keep-apart rule. If rules conflict, you'll see which one can't be met.
